Super Tuesday

Today was a great day in Room 9!  We learned a lot, while having fun at the same time. Gus learned how to figure out how many 10s a number has in Math Review.  In PE we did a fit test and Gymnastics Suit liked the free style station because he did a plank.  We started a new book today in Read Aloud called The Cricket in Times Square.  At the end of the first chapter the mouse named Tucker heard a strange sound and Bunny thinks it might be the cricket.  Today in science we learned about hot water and cold water.  Hot water expands and cold water contracts.  Ms. Bunny M thought science was fun!  Here are some pictures of us:

PE Day

This morning we did Math.  We did a little assessment about addition and subtraction.  Link thought it was fun!  Next we did Writing Workshop and we worked on our stories about a special object.  Katie is writing about her first Build-a-Bear.  Next we did Reading Workshop.  We corrected our assessment from yesterday, and we did stations.  Emma liked doing Word Study.  After lunch we finished Esperanza Rising.  In the end Esperanza was happy, she wanted Isabel to practice croceting and she realized friends and family are more important than money.  Bigfoot is looking forward to the next read aloud book we will start on Monday!  In P.E. we played Mission Impossible, but Link says it is really possible!  At the end of the day we did Art.  We made a project that looked like fireworks.  Kcorb thought it was cool!  See you tomorrow!

Chilly Tuesday

This morning in Math we worked in our math workbooks on addition problems.  Carly thought it was easy!  Then we did Writing and we started a story about a special object and Judy Amber is writing about her dog Roxy.  Next we did Reading Workshop.  We practiced our spelling words in different ways and Emma used a whiteboard.  We also practiced analyzing a character and visualizing. In Read Aloud all the strikers had to go back to Mexico and Esperanza found Marta and she helped her.  Link thought it was good that Esperanza helped.  In P.E. we had free choice.  Rolias chose dodge ball.  At the end of the day we made a slope and watched what happened when we dropped water on it.  Bunny thought it was cool to watch the beads go down!

Birthday Girls

This morning we started with Math.  We talked about Math Facts and looked at our folders.  Kit took her first math facts test today since she was sick.  Next we spent some time catching up on work.  We caught up on mixed media art, and PeeWee and some other kids did thier math assessment.  Today we also learned about donating books to the used book sale.  The goal for the school is to donate 6,000 books.  Razorback thinks the sale is a good idea!  Today in Reading Workshop we practiced Read to Someone.  Our stamina is up to 4 minutes.  Link and  Pee Wee read Green Eggs and Ham.  In Esperanza Rising, we learned that Esperanza's dad was killed by bandits.  Esperanza was really sad.  Ash thinks the uncles were the criminals.  In Science we started our first activity about water and we predicted what happens when water spills on something.  At the end of the day we celebrated Judy Amber and Carly's birthdays.  We sang to them and ate some veggie chips.  Then we went to library!
